Allen Taylor and Frank Torre Awards
These awards are sponsored by Professors Allen Taylor and Frank Torre, who are alumni of the Chemistry Department at Rutgers University-Newark.
An award of $500 will be bestowed annually on a graduate student at the end of their 3rd year after completing the candidacy exam.
An award of $500 will be bestowed annually on a graduate student for an outstanding PhD thesis.
Award Nomination:
Candidates for the award are nominated by their faculty advisor. A student can be nominated for either/both of these awards but can only receive one Taylor-Torre award as a Rutgers-Newark graduate student.*
Nomination Deadline:
May 31st; nominations are submitted by email to the Department Chair.
Criteria for Selection of Awardees:
(a) Research excellence
(b) Standing in the program (GPA)
(c) Training and mentoring of junior students

Department of Chemistry Teaching Assistant Awards
An award of $300 will be bestowed annually on a graduate for outstanding efforts as a Teaching Assistant in one of the introductory laboratories (General Chemistry, World of Chemistry).
An award of $300 will be bestowed annually on a graduate student for outstanding efforts as a Teaching Assistant in one of the advanced laboratories (Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic and Materials Chemistry).
Award Nomination:
Candidates for the award are nominated by course instructors. A student can be (re)nominated for either of these awards.
Nomination Deadline:
May 31st; nominations are submitted by email to the Department Chair.
