Tau Sigma National Honor Society

The Office of Academic Services of the Newark College of Arts and Sciences and University College founded the Rutgers University-Newark chapter of the Tau Sigma National Honor Society. Tau Sigma is an honor society for students that transferred into RU-N from another institution and have exhibited high academic achievement during their first semester and throughout their collegiate careers.

The mission of the honor society is to “recognize and promote the academic excellence and involvement of transfer students.”  In 2011, the Rutgers-Newark chapter was created and in October 2013 inducted the chapter’s new members into the honor society.

The emblem of Tau Sigma is a red crest with the Greek letters Tau and Sigma superimposed and a bundle of wheat. The letters Tau and Sigma are emblematic of transition and scholarship.
