My friends would describe me as sociable, industrious, driven and resilient— all qualities I believe are very critical for any doctor to possess. In these coming years, I aim to strengthen those characteristics and work toward becoming a compassionate doctor."- Aparna Govindan, BA/MD program
For as long as I can remember, I have been unequivocally certain that I want to become a doctor. From about the age of five, I have been observing my mother, a physician, and spend several hours every night in the hospital while she completed her rounds.
“I want to become a doctor to help improve the lives of patients and to let them know that they are not merely another customer of the healthcare industry, but a patient placed in a loving and caring community.”- Eison De Guzman, BA/MD program
I was born in New York and my family eventually moved to Virginia where I began elementary school. I attended high school at Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School in Richmond, VA, where I participated in tennis and piano competitions.
“Anything I love, I dedicate everything I have to it. That’s just who I am.”- Aditi Jain, BA/MD program
I have always wanted to be a leader. I moved to Westfield, New Jersey at three years old after emigrating from India. I was heavily involved in the student government from fourth grade to my senior year at Westfield High School, as well as participating on numerous varsity sports teams. This taught me the importance of leadership and listening skills.
