The Clement A. Price Institute in partnership and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center present:
A Dance Symposium with Nimbus Dance Works
The Price Institute is partnering with Nimbus Dance Works of Jersey City to present an exciting new concept in the Dance Symposium Series: a long-term sustained engagement with a local community of performers. Artists from Nimbus Dance Works are working closely with dance students at Newark Arts High School in a creative six-week residency series and performance based on the company’s Memoproject. Memo, one of Nimbus's signature works, emerges out of a collaborative process of exploring dancers’ personal memories as sources for movement and content. As a community dance project, Memo integrates local performers of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to perform alongside the Nimbus company dancers. During the creative residency at Arts High, dance students engaged with Nimbus professionals in a process of generating movement vocabulary from personal memories. The students and Nimbus dancers then will perform the piece together at NJPAC’s Victoria Theater on November 1.
The concert features Esther, an edgy retelling of the Old Testament tale, and the company’s signature work.
Admission is Free, but tickets must be reserved in advance by contacting NJ Performing Arts Center at 1-888-GO-NJPAC.
We hope to see you there!
