Pursuing a more democratic society

Our program provides both undergraduate and graduate students with the critical-thinking and writing skills required for civic engagement in a democratic society. The Department is also committed to a curriculum that explores all aspects of politics so as to develop informed, engaged, and thoughtful global citizens. Our graduates then go on to pursue careers in the public, non-profit, and private sectors. Others pursue further study in political science, law, public service and administration, criminal justice, non-profit administration, global politics, and international relations. The program also includes opportunities for internships related to domestic and international politics and study abroad.

Our undergraduate program offers several major and minor programs.

Our programs cover the major fields of political science: American government, international relations, comparative politics, gender politics, social movements, and political theory.

Beyond the classroom, we offer opportunities for internships with national and international organizations, research projects that dig deep into the issues that matter to you, and study abroad experiences that will broaden your perspective.

The department offers a Masters degree in Political Science. Our excellent graduate students get to take part in research workshops, team up with our fantastic faculty on research projects, get hands-on teaching experience, and show off their work at prestigious conferences.
