A Letter to the Honors College Graduating Class of 2020:
On behalf of the School of Arts & Sciences-Newark (SASN), I am reaching out to provide our well wishes and congratulate you on completing your degree this semester. While this is not the way that we had ever imagined we would be congratulating you on this accomplishment, we do not want to diminish or overlook the significance of this moment. You and your loved ones should be so incredibly proud of your success during your time at Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N) and within the Honors College. Each of you have put in time, effort, and diligence in making the most out of your time at Rutgers. From being involved in the Honors College Student Council, providing mentorship to your peers, engaging faculty and staff both in and out of the classroom, participating in campus life, and completing incredible research which was displayed during the virtual Research Symposium-you did not skip a beat! We are fortunate to have had you as scholars in our school, and while we will not be able to physically celebrate this accomplishment with you this month, we want you to be aware that the SASN faculty and staff could not be more proud of this graduating class, especially for the resilience and determination you have displayed over the last few months.
I invite you to visit our Class of 2020 webpage, where we celebrate you via messages from faculty, staff, and students. I also invite you to come back to campus as soon as it is safe so that we can celebrate your success in person.
I know that this is not the end of your journey; this is one of many chapters that you will go on to complete. You are our future; our physicians, nurses, attorneys, scientists, researchers, teachers, artists, entrepreneurs, and beyond. I am confident that you will continue to further the vision and mission of Honors College and RU-N in your communities. I wish you all much success as you embark on the next step of your academic and professional journey. Please know that you will always have a home at Rutgers University-Newark, within both the School of Arts & Sciences-Newark and Honors College. Keep making us proud and stay in touch!
