Prospective Graduate Information

As your Rutgers University-Newark journey draws to a conclusion, celebrate with us at a momentous and joyful occasion, Commencement.

At the Rutgers University-Newark Commencement ceremony you’ll march in with your classmates, hear your name announced as you walk on stage, receive your diploma jacket, and hear speeches by the university president, chancellor, your dean, guest speaker, and student speaker.

The 2020 Rutgers University-Newark Commencement ceremony will take place in the breathtaking Prudential Center on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. 

All prospective graduates must complete a Graduation Application in order to be eligible for graduation. 

 

Commencement Checklist

 

Academic Regalia (Cap, Gown, & Hood)

 

Students participating in commencement MUST wear regalia for the ceremony. All students must pre-order their regalia online (please see below for website). Deadline to submit you order is March 12, 2020.

Regalia Pick-Up Instructions

Regalia will be available for pick-up from the Barnes and Noble Bookstore starting April 20th.

Hours for pick-up:

Monday-Thursday: 9AM-6PM

Fridays : 9AM-4PM

Weekends: Closed

Pricing: The bachelor package includes the cap, gown, tassel and hood is $95.00

Academic Hood

The colors of the outside trim of the hood is associated with your degree. Please be sure to double check your hood when you picking it up from the Barnes and Noble bookstore.

Bachelor's of Science (BS): gold stripe

Bachelor’s of Arts (BA): white stripe

Bachelor’s of Fine Art (BFA): brown

SPAA Bachelor’s of Arts (BA): blue

Everyone will have a red stripe to represent RU


Class 2020 Salute Week and More!

Monday, May 11th-May 15th

Salute week was designed to celebrate Rutgers University-Newark’s undergraduate class with a week filled with fun & memorable activities.  Students will also pick up their Commencement Name Cards and guest invitations for commencement during this week. Photos will be taken at each event and displayed during commencement.  We want to celebrate your accomplishments leading up to commencement therefore,You are Cordially Invited to the following events:

Yearbook

Prospective graduates must have yearbook photo taken by Lors Photography to receive a yearbook. Students are encouraged to participate in Student Life and Leadership activities and other campus events for opportunities to be featured in the yearbook.

Class Rings

A representative from various companies will be available for consultations in the lobby of the Paul Robeson Campus Center or the Barnes and Noble Bookstore in Bradley Hall.
