Health Sciences

A Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences (B.S.H.S.) is a joint degree between the School of Arts & Sciences-Newark (SASN) and the School of Health Professions (SHP).  After near completion of the requirements for the Core Curriculum, as well as a minor in either psychology or sociology, students apply to transfer to SHP, where they complete their professional training for the major in a fully online program.  The application deadline is March 1st.

There are two concentrations to choose from:

Aging Concentration

The goal of the Aging concentration is to prepare students with training in healthy living and management of disease in older adults; social policies for older adults; and knowledge, resources, and skills to effectively care for the ever-growing aging population in our communities and beyond.  Students pursuing the B.S.H.S. aging track complete their first two years of study in SASN, where they complete their core curriculum requirements as well as a minor in psychology or sociology.  Students then apply to transfer to SHRP, where they complete their professional training for the major in a fully online program.
