The Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies currently offers four undergraduate minors—in Spanish, Portuguese, Latin American Studies and Latina/o Studies. We are also in the process of developing an undergraduate minor in Translation and Interpretation which should be available in 2020. Our minors are designed to facilitate easy combination with a myriad of other undergraduate majors. All of our minors require the completion of 18 credits and are designed so that both four-year and transfer students can complete them in four semesters or less. Our faculty are award-winning educators and create a dynamic classroom experience. Alumni who have chosen minors from the growing array of options in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies have gone on to build careers in education, international banking, the healthcare professions, non-profit foundations, and many other industries that prize bilingual abilities and cross-cultural competence as highly valuable skills in the global marketplace.
