How to Obtain a Special Permission Number
FALL/SPRING Semesters ONLY
If the course you want to register for is closed, you should:
- Email the professor to request a special permission number. Include you name and RUID. If the professor does not have their SP numbers available yet, request to be added on a waiting list.
- Register for a different section of the course.
- Keep checking the registration website to see if anyone has dropped.
- Attend the first class meeting of the course and ask the instructor for a special permission number. If there is room in the class, the instructor MAY choose to give you a special permission number.
Permission numbers are given to the professors two weeks prior to the start of the semester.
Winter Session SPN Policy:
To register for a Math course in the Winter Session, please read the following for eligibility. A special permission number (SPN) is required to register for Winter Session Math classes.
WE MUST WAIT UNTIL WE RECIEVE FINAL GRADES.
Eligibility for Math 105: Intermediate Algebra
- Students with a FINAL course grade of D, F, or W in Math 105 are eligible to take the Winter Session offering of Math 105 if they wish to do so.
Eligibility for Math 109: College Algebra for Science Business
- Students with a FINAL course grade of A in Math 105 are eligible to take the Winter offering of Math 109 "College Algebra for Science and Business."
- Students with a FINAL course grade of D, F, or W in Math 109 are eligible to take the Winter Session offering of Math 109.
Eligibility Math 114: Precalculus
- Students with a FINAL course grade of A in Math 109 are eligible to take the Winter offering of Math 114 "Precalculus."
- Students with a FINAL course grade of D, F, or W in Math 114 are eligible to take the Winter Session offering of Math 114.
To obtain an SPN, please complete the attached form.
Note: there is no guarantee that you will be given a special permission number.
