Entry Requirements for MS in Environmental Science/Environmental Geology
Undergraduate Degree:
Minimum BS in any Science/Engineering Program with an Environmental Emphasis
There is a strict university requirement of a minimum GPA of 3.0 for entry into any graduate degree program. The department may advocate for entry of a student with a lower GPA under exceptional circumstances
General GRE Exam:
Submission of GRE scores are optional in the MS Environmental Science/Environmental Geology Application. GRE scores are valid for 3 to 5 years prior to the application date at the discretion of the department. GRE scores from more than 5 years prior to the application date will not be accepted.
There is no strict departmental requirement and GRE applications are considered along with the rest of the application. Department looks for student to obtain a score more than 152 on both the verbal reasoning and quantitative portions of the exam. This requirement can be relaxed e.g. we look for strong quantitative scores in international students, accepting that verbal scores may be low.
International Students:
University requires the TOEFL exam for an applicant from any non-English speaking country. There are three types of this exam and the minimum scores vary depending on which exam you take. The scores are as follows:
1. Computer: 213 minimum
2. Paper: 550 minimum
3. Internet: 94-101
Rutgers will take a TOEFL exam result taken within 2 years of the date of application to the program.
The minimum acceptable IELTS (English proficiency) score is 6.5.
