The Geoscience program aims to foster the intellectual development of its students within a geoscience perspective, and to prepare them to evaluate critical contemporary issues and problems relating to the earth's physical environment. For anyone contemplating graduate studies and a professional career in geoscience, certain ancillary courses are required and others strongly recommended.
 
The bachelor of arts (B.A.) degree in geosciences requires 65 credits.

The department strongly encourages students to participate in faculty-led research with the approval of the chair.  Students may substitute a maximum of 6 credits toward the environmental science minor with an undergraduate research experience.
