This is a truly remarkable place. We believe – and statistics show – that there is no school quite like ours. We are the most diverse college campus in the United States and have been for many years. Here, you will not only learn from your professors, but also from your peers, who hail from all over the world as well as right here in Newark.
With nearly 40 undergraduate majors, the School of Arts & Sciences-Newark provides opportunities for academic exploration in a wide range of studies; from studio art to neuroscience, you can make an impact.
Whether your major is in the arts or the sciences, or even if you are still undecided, you can take courses with top faculty in the liberal arts, award-winning novelists and poets, painters, and filmmakers. You will learn from, and can even assist, scientists doing innovative research in biology, chemistry, psychology, and neurosciences right from the start of your undergraduate career.
We are located right in the heart of downtown Newark and take great pride in being not only in Newark, but of Newark. With a thriving arts, startup, and food scene, Newark is a vibrant, diverse, and up-and-coming community. We have a long tradition of commitment to the greater Newark community and to inclusion, diversity, and opportunity.
Last January, we opened up Express Newark, an arts hub that includes video production and art and photo studios where you can collaborate with community artists, 3-D printing labs and graphic design spaces, right alongside retail, dining, gallery and art spaces, and apartments. And a year later, we opened up Life Sciences II, a state-of-the-art teaching and research building for students and faculty.
This is the place where the American Dream comes to life. If you’re willing to work hard and give it your all, we will give you our all. We will enable you to fulfill your dream, whether that dream is to go to medical school, law school, or to become a poet, a graphic artist, biologist, social worker, or psychologist.
We very much look forward to getting to know you and helping you get to know our community.
Welcome, again, to the School of Arts & Sciences-Newark!
