Laura Troiano holds a MA in History and a PhD in American Studies from Rutgers University-Newark. Her research interests include narrative and public history, sports, particularly baseball, and the history of Newark. Her work on public programs has brought her to every corner of the city and through much of the Greater Newark region, forging collaborations with various schools, teachers, and nonprofits, including the Newark Museum, the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. Troiano has emerged as a much-in-demand expert on local history. She has presented her research at conferences around the country and spoken at events hosted by the Newark History Society and the NJ Council for the Humanities.
