Elisabeth Eittreim is a Lecturer at Rutgers University, Newark where she teaches U.S. History, U.S. Women’s History, and Human Rights History. A Scholar-Teacher during the 2015-2016 academic year, she received her PhD in History from Rutgers University in October 2015. She is currently revising her manuscript, “The Teachers’ Dilemma: Education and Empire, 1879-1918,” which highlights the fragility of U.S. empire as American teachers taught Native Americans and Filipinos amidst profound resistance, both manmade and environmental. Elisabeth holds a Masters of Arts in Human Rights from Columbia University, a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Quinnipiac University, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Virginia.
