Bernie Lombardi is a postdoctoral associate in African American and African Studies at Rutgers University, Newark, as well as program associate for the Newark City of Learning Collaborative. He is working on a book project exploring representations of queer diasporic childhood and queer coming of age narratives in 21st century transnational African literature. He has an MA in Africana Studies from The CUNY Graduate Center and a BA in English and African and African American Studies from Fordham University. His publications appear in The Black ScholarCollege Literature, and Research in African Literatures. An essay on the friendship between Langston Hughes (USA) and Louise Bennett (Jamaica) is forthcoming in Langston Hughes in Context (Cambridge UP) in 2023. He teaches classes in African diaspora, African, and queer literatures and film.
